Randal A. Hendricks

Randy and his brother, Alan, co-founded Hendricks Sports Management in the 1970’s. In 1999 they sold their company to SFX Entertainment. While with SFX, Randy simultaneously served as Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of SFX Baseball Group. His group had five offices and represented 16% of all major league players.

Following the conclusion of their management contracts in late 2003, the Hendricks brothers re-established Hendricks Sports Management as a boutique baseball agency designed to serve a select number of clients.

Randy has been an agent since the early days of free agency. He is a veteran of many record setting contracts, labor negotiations and other important matters in the baseball industry. He holds the best lifetime winning percentage in salary arbitration and collusion cases. He has argued over 60 such cases. He has been ranked near the top of Baseball America power brokers and has been named its top agent. He has been named to the Sporting News list of 100 Most Powerful People in Sports, including most recently 2003.

Randy served as a member of the Houston/Harris County Sports Facility Public Advisory Committee, which led to new baseball, football and basketball arenas in Houston.

Randy is the author of Inside the Strike Zone, an intimate look at the inner working of baseball at the highest levels. Published in 1994, Inside the Strike Zone was a finalist for the Casey Award as the best baseball book of 1994.

Randy has been a member of twelve Major/Major Plus Division national and world championship senior softball teams, including most recently in 2008. He is a member of the Senior Softball Hall of Fame.

Randy received a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance, with honors, from the University of Houston.

He also received a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree, with honors, from the University of Houston, where he was Articles Editor of the Houston Law Review.

A native of Shawnee Mission, Kansas, Randy lives in Houston with his wife, Jill. He is the father of two grown daughters and a grown son.
